Large narrow-bezel LCD video wall in a corporate reception

What is a video wall?

A video wall is a group of commercial displays mounted edge to edge so they act as one large screen. Video wall panels have very thin bezels so the joins are hard to see. A controller or media player splits the picture across the screens, and the wall can show one large image or several zones of content at once.

Planning a video wall

  1. 1Measure the wall and check it can take the weight of the screens and mounts.
  2. 2Think about viewing distance: close viewing needs narrower bezels or LED.
  3. 3Decide what content the wall will show and whether it needs live sources such as dashboards or cameras.
  4. 4Consider LED instead of LCD for very large walls without visible joins.

Frequently asked questions

Can I build a video wall from ordinary TVs?

TVs have thick bezels, uneven colour between units and are not built for long running hours, so the result looks patchy. Video wall displays are designed to match each other and run continuously.

LCD or LED video wall?

LCD video walls are cost-effective and very sharp up close but show thin joins. LED walls are seamless and suit very large sizes, usually at a higher cost. Our LED vs LCD guide compares them.

How is content shown on a video wall?

A media player or controller sends the picture to the wall. Using SignageTec software you can schedule content for the whole wall or for separate zones.
